Dads Idea Exchange

My 9-year-old son made me think when he took me on my first visit to see Arsenal play at a very exciting match against Man Utd. It was te first time I'd been to the Emirates and wasn't sure what to expect. He put paid to that by giving me instructions before we left home. "Now mum - you'll hear lots of bad language during the match and whatever you do ... you are not to tell anyone off. I think some of them have issues even when were winning." I was so glad I went. It was great to do something for the first time - and him show me the ropes. And it was certainly character-building for me! We often think we are the ones who do the confidence boosting .. but the football boot was definitely on the other foot.

Thanks, Lorraine - great to have you here. It's a great feeling when they show you what they can do for the first time. A great tip I was given once was, instead of complaining about the amount of time they spend on the computer, Playstation etc., get them to show you what they know - I've learnt tons(!) and my sons feel really proud to have done the teaching.
