According to the Express recently:
"Shocking new research shows that 11million British homeowners are putting broadband over bread.
A staggering 67 per cent of the 500 families questioned said they would rather cut back on school uniforms, family holidays and the weekly food shop than the internet.
The O2 Digital Families report also revealed the average UK household now has 2.4 televisions rather than children.
And 40 per cent of parents claim technology purchases and bills account for 10 per cent of the household budget - around £3,000-a-year.
British families also own 1.6 computers, 2.4 games consoles, three mobile phones and 2.3 MP3 players.
Half of all parents - no longer phased by technology - are spending quality time playing computer games with their children every week.
A third of web-savvy mums and dads are also surfing the net with their kids, while one in five use social networking sites such as Facebook to keep in touch with their relatives.
Despite accusations that today’s "BlackBerry culture" makes maintaining a healthy work-life balance difficult, one in three parents agree easy access to email and the internet makes it easier to balance work and family responsibilities.
Social analyst Bob Tyrell, who compiled the report, said: “How parents control technology is key to maintaining work-life balance."
